“Always unconventional and full of ideas, MINI is an automotive legend that has inspired for more than 60 years. Our story of BIG LOVE encompasses our dedication to celebrating the beauty in individuality, the brilliant potential of doing more with our minimalist design and the passion and fun factor in our Go-Kart feel driving.” said Florian Kuenstner, Vice President MINI Region Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa at the launch.
Here are the four members of the new MINI family that’ll be zooming onto Malaysian roads soon.
New MINI Cooper SE
Get your fill of the model leading the MINI family pack: the new MINI Cooper SE. While the other three models were previewed at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 back in May, this all-electric model made its first appearance in Malaysia at the launch event.
The SE model’s striking exterior combines minimalist aesthetics with an athletic form. The 18-inch Night Flash two-tone wheels give it a sportier edge over the petrol counterpart, and the intentional absence of wheel arch trims and side scuttles embodies that ‘charismatic simplicity’ ideal. On the inside, a spacious cabin welcomes you, thanks to the addition of fewer components and a focus on essentials. Meanwhile, the cool-looking round OLED display sits as the centrepiece and allows for touch-controlled access to all your in-drive needs.
Under the hood, the fully electric car has a driving range of up to 402 kilometres, ample capacity to power all your urban adventures. It also has a 0-100km/h time of just 6.7 seconds, and along with the driving feel, delivers fully on that ‘go-kart sensation’ that MINI fans love.
New MINI Cooper S
Of course, the classic and iconic MINI model returns alongside the all-electric model. The MINI Cooper S is renewed with modern touches to both exterior and interior, like an updated front look with octagonal grille, adaptive LED headlights with three adjustable light signatures, new steering wheel and the eye-catching round OLED display in the centre console.
It also gets a Harmon Kardon surround sound system for awesome audio entertainment, the Comfort Package Plus, and a cargo capacity of 210 litres that can be expanded more than double to 725 litres with the seats flat.
The MINI TwinPower Turbo 2.0 litre engine gets you a top speed of 242km/h, and with the customisable MINI Experience driving modes, this three-door compact car absolutely delivers that fun-to-drive road feel.
New MINI Countryman SE ALL4
The second fully electric model in the lineup is the new MINI Countryman SE ALL4. For fans of the compact crossover, the new Countryman is taller and more spacious than its previous iteration. On the exterior front, it gets the exclusive favoured trim design with choice of piano black or vibrant silver roof and mirror caps as well as other accents along the sides, front and rear.
On the inside, the Countryman SE ALL4 is made warm with the use of two-tone recycled polyester surfaces throughout the inside. Most noticeably for the driver is the exclusion of an instrument cluster; instead, all driving information can be viewed through the heads-up display behind the steering wheel and through the centre console touchscreen.
Just as its name suggests, the Countryman SE ALL4 boasts a dynamic drive with its all-wheel capability and versatility for all adventures beyond the urban. In terms of performance, expect 313hp and 494Nm of torque, allowing for 0-100km/h in only 5.6 seconds. The large 66.5kWh battery also travels for up to 432km.
New MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) Countryman ALL4
The JCW badge comes fitted to the Countryman name in this lineup, and the new JCW Countryman ALL4 lives up to that sportier moniker. From the bright red roof and mirror caps to the 20-inch JCW flag spoke wheels and sport tyres, this five-door crossover screams performance from first glance.
Its petrol-powered engine proves it too, with a top speed of 250km/h and a century sprint time of 5.4 seconds. With JCW performance brakes (for form and function) as well as sport transmission with double clutch and adaptive suspension, the unmistakeably MINI driving feel is heightened too.
In terms of safety, expect all the necessary driver assistance systems like parking assistant plus, lane departure warning, and much more. The entire fleet is also equipped with the MINI OS 9 that provides a seamless digital experience to every drive, from in-cabin control through to smartphone connectivity.
