If you are looking for a sportier but just as plush of an alternative to the traditional E-Class, you’re in luck.
There seems to be a trend now amongst automakers in ramping up their Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV). Hopping on to the bandwagon is Mercedes Benz, with not one but two models to strengthen the German marque’s position in the premium SUV segment in Malaysia.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has unveiled the locally-assembled progressive crossover SUV, the GLC 300 Coupé AMG Line, as well as the true off-roader, the GLE 450 AMG Line. The GLC 300 Coupé comes in one variant while the GLE 450 AMG Line is offered in two variants, the five-seater and seven-seater.
If you are looking for a sportier but just as plush of an alternative to the traditional E-Class, you’re in luck. The GLC 300 Coupé comes at a similar price point of the E350 AMG Line RM399,888. The price for GLE 450 AMG Line starts from RM633,888 for the five-seater and RMRM638,888 for the seven-seater.
Before you head off to your nearest showroom, let us breakdown some differences between the two. Honestly, we still can’t decide between the two.
GLC 300 Coupé AMG Line
The GLC 300 Coupé AMG Line is an SUV and a Coupé, two outstanding traits in the automotive world. It comes with a hard to beat combination of triple-A – aesthetic appeal, adrenaline and athleticism. It is powered with a 2.0-litre engine, making for a performance of 245 hp and 370 Nm of torque between 1,300 and 4,000 rpm.
This sets it apart from its predecessor – the locally-assembled GLC 250 Coupé. Its AMG Line exterior includes dynamic AMG body styling, adaptive LED headlights, aluminium-look running boards, and 20-inch light-alloy wheels.
GLE 450 AMG Line
The fully-imported GLE 450 AMG Line is the perfect combination of luxury and performance. It runs on a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that generates a thunderous 367hp. The true off-roader in the premium SUV segment comes heavily-equipped with specs like active suspension system E-Active Body Control and the Active Stop-and-Go Assist driving assistance systems.
The expressive and sporty character of the vehicle comes through from the dynamic AMG body styling, diamond radiator grille with chrome pins through to the 22-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, and mesmerising Multibeam LED graphics.
