One of it is known to be the 8th wonder of the world.
Thanos’ snap may have obliterated half of all life in the universe, but it left pristine landscapes all over the world untouched (places where the war didn’t happen, that is). While we are still on our Avengers fever, we are bringing to you some of the locations where the movies were shot.
Some of the locations are closer to home, just in case if you want to drop by to see where the Avengers have been.
Banaue Rice Terraces, the Philippines
If Thanos escaped here when he needed a break, then it is certainly worth checking out. The Banaue Rice Terraces are terraces that were carved into the mountains of Ifugao in the Philippines by the ancestors of the indigenous people. The rice terraces were built over 2,000 years ago and are considered to be the Eighth Wonder of the World.
Fort Bard, Italy
Fort Bard is a fortified complex built in the 19th century that is shown as the fictional Eastern European country of Sokovia in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The impregnatable fort was built by the House of Savoy on a rocky prominence above Bard, a town and comune in the Aosta Valley region of northwestern Italy. At present, the Fort is open to tourists as the Museum of the Alps and has additional art exhibitions and galleries. In the summer, the main courtyard is used to host musical and theatrical performances.
Edinburgh’s Old Town, Scotland
When the filmmakers were looking for something unique, gothic and dramatic in Avengers: Infinity War as the hideout for Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), Edinburgh’s Old Town with its medieval architecture fitted the bill. The Old Town is usually bustling with tourists who can’t get enough of centuries-old buildings and narrow alleys. The area has preserved much of its medieval street plan and many Reformation-era buildings. Together with the New Town, it forms part of a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Lençois Maranhenses National Park, Brazil
Plate shots taken here were used to compose the landscape of Vormir, where Thanos sets out in search of the soul stone. The park was chosen for its unique visuals of clear white sand dunes surrounded by bright blue pools of fresh water. The National Park is a protected area on Brazil’s north Atlantic coast and is known for its vast desert landscape of tall, white sand dunes and seasonal rainwater lagoons.
Downtown Atlanta, New York
Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame were filmed in Atlanta. Both films were shot simultaneously for financial and logistical reasons, and to accommodate the availability of the actors. The filming in Atlanta was done at Piedmont Park near the peace monument, and at the Five Points MARTA station. Downtown Atlanta is home to many exciting attractions and fun-filled destinations. In fact, many of the city’s most sought after attractions are all within walking distance of each other.
