The long-awaited Lamborghini Urus SE has officially landed on Malaysian soil. This is the world’s first plug-in hybrid Super SUV, featuring a refreshed design, optimised aerodynamics, unprecedented on-board technology, and an 800 CV hybrid powertrain. The Urus SE expands on the iconic Urus S in regards to comfort, performance, efficiency, and driving pleasure, whilst attaining the highest ever torque and power values thanks to its “two hearts”, thermal and electric, positioning the Super SUV uniquely in its class with an 80% reduction in emissions.
A peerless driving experience
The Urus SE’s plug-in hybrid system enhances the vehicle’s performance and dynamics on any surface and in any condition due to the increased torque and power extended by innovative technical solutions, such as the electric torque vectoring system between the two axles, and the electronic rear differential.
Under the vehicle’s bonnet is an upgraded twin-turbo 4.0 V8 engine that generates 620 CV of power (456 kW) and 800 Nm of driving torque, working in optimal synergy with the electric powertrain that delivers an output of 192 CV (141 kW) and 483 Nm of torque.
The Urus SE also offers up to 60 km of electricity-only range propelled by a 25.9-kWh lithium-ion battery that sits below the load floor and above the electronically-controlled rear differential, backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system with an integrated front differential as well as a rear electronic limited-slip differential which enables “on demand” oversteering to convey the feel of a purebred super sports car.
Overall, the vehicle’s system delivers a total power output of 800 CV (588 kW) at 6,000 rpm and a total torque of 950 Nm already available at 1,750 rpm and up to 5,750 rpm, offering best-in-class performance from every angle. This is further bolstered by its enhanced weight-to-power ratio, standing at 3.13 kg/CV compared to 3.3 in the Urus S, enabling it to climb from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 3.4 seconds, and from 0 to 200 km/h in 11.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 312 km/h.
Design and aerodynamics
In terms of design, the Urus SE has been updated to optimise aerodynamic efficiency. A new hood with a floating design rounds off the front and amplifies its athletic look, complemented by new elements such as the matrix LED headlight clusters. This integrates a brand-new light signature that pays homage to the tail of the Lamborghini brand’s bull, along with a overhauled bumper and front grill.
At the rear, the new cargo compartment hatch features a Gallardo-inspired continuity by connecting the tail light clusters with “Y” lights and a new rear diffuser, which makes the Urus SE even sportier. Combined with the new spoiler, the diffuser increases rear downforce by 35% at high speeds compared to the Urus S, thus making it more stable.
New under-body air vents and revamped air ducts further enhance aerodynamic efficiency by a 15% increase over the original Urus. The new design and aerodynamic features combined has in turn enhanced the management of airflows to the braking system, resulting in a 30% efficiency in air cooling over its predecessor.
Interiors
The refreshed cabin of the Urus SE spotlights Lamborghini’s signature “feel like a pilot” design DNA, featuring new solutions such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen display at the centre of the dashboard that features an updated Human Machine Interface (HMI). Other upgrades include the refined air vents, anodised aluminium trim elements, and the new panel, seat, and dashboard coverings.
Aside from its mechanical pushbutton panel, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and aforementioned 12.3-inch screen at the heart of the Lamborghini Infotainment System (LIS), the Urus SE incorporates a dedicated telemetry system and new displays that allow for better perception of the surrounding environment.
Customisation
Motorheads will be glad to know that the Urus SE comes with a range of customisation options. Replacing the alloy wheels are the 23-inch Galanthus rims paired as standard with new Pirelli P Zero tyres, with three choices from 21 inches to 23 inches. All these products feature Pirelli Elect technology, developed to enhance the characteristics of the first electrified Urus.
The colour range for the Urus SE has also been expanded to include over 100 bodywork options, including two new colours: Arancio Egon (orange), in combination with an interior in Arancio Apodis (orange), and Bianco Sapphirus (white) with interior in Terra Kedros (terracotta). In terms of interior, there is an array of 47 colour combinations and four types of embroidery (Q-citura stitching). Additionally, other customisations can be done via the Ad Personam program so owners can truly make their Urus SE one-of-a-kind.
Various driving modes
Thanks to its hybrid powertrain, the six Urus driving modes are fused with four new Electric Performance Strategies (EPS), amounting to 11 options. The Strada, Sport, and Corsa modes (for road and track use), and the Neve, Sabbia, and Terra modes (for surfaces with a different grip than asphalt) are now accompanied by the EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance, and Recharge options.
EV Drive is ideal for urban driving, delivering over 60 km in electric range as well as a maximum speed of over 130 km/h. Above this speed, the V8 engine automatically supports the electric motor, and likewise if the torque demands exceed the maximum available from the electric motor. Hybrid, which can be selected when driving in Strada mode, provides the maximum efficiency and comfort along with optimal balance between combustion engine and the electric motor, and is therefore the most versatile option for everyday driving.
Recharge, which can be selected in Strada, Sport, Corsa and Neve modes, recharges up to 80% of the battery while maintaining optimal performance. The Performance option is meant for those who want to experience the full potential of the Urus SE not only in Strada, Sport and Corsa modes but also in Sabbia and Terra, highlighting the dynamic qualities of the Super SUV.
The Lamborghini Urus SE is now open for booking in Malaysia through Lamborghini Kuala Lumpur, at a starting price of RM 1,028,000 before taxes, duties and customisation.
