The new Bentley Continental GT V8 is designed, engineered, and handcrafted in Great Britain.
This year, British carmaker Bentley debuts a new successor of its third generation Continental GT. A Grand Tourer that is the very definition of luxury automobiles, equipped with a powerful V8 engine and cutting-edge technology. Meet the new Bentley Continental GT V8.
The Bentley Continental GT V8 comes with a new-generation 4.0-litre, 32-valve, twin-turbocharged engine to bring to the roads impressive power and greater range. It’s paired with excellent weight distribution to make the Grand Tourer feel more agile and responsive. Its new generation V8 petrol engine develops 542 bhp and 770 Nm of torque. The dual twin-scroll turbochargers are located inside the ‘V’ of the engine, resulting in a top sped of 318 kmh and 0-100 kmh in 4.0 seconds.
The GT V8’s performance is complemented by a refined efficiency, which stems partly from the ability of the engine to de-active four of its eight cylinders in suitable conditions, without sacrificing the joy of the drive. The change is perfectly seamless and imperceptible, taking place in just 20 milliseconds. The Continental GT V8 is also equipped with Stop-Start technology, which operates at ‘near-to-stop’ speeds.
A great drive can only be matched with a visual statement of luxury and elegance; the Continental GT V8 sports 20-inch, 10-spoke painted alloy wheels. Customers also have the option to choose from nine other designs measuring up to 22-inches. The luxury carmaker offers seven standard exterior bodywork colours, with an extensive palate of additional paint choices available. What makes the GT V8 stand out is its quad exhaust pipes and subtle V8 badging to the front wings.
This new generation is also implemented with the latest LED Matrix technology. The design of the headlamps is inspired by the finest cut-crystal glasses, resulting in an effect that mimics that of an illuminated cut gem. As you approach the car, this effect is magnified when the optional welcome sequence gradually illuminates the headlights.
If desired, the new GT V8 is also available with the Blackline Specification for a more striking and assertive look. It replaces the exterior body brightware with black-painted trim, except for the Bentley wing badges and rear lettering. The Blackline Specification is made from specifically commissioned, high gloss, black carbon-fibre, creating a more visually dramatic character.
Open the doors to the Continental GT V8 and one can find an interior that’s truly innovative and luxurious. It integrates natural materials such as the highest quality leathers, and rare, sustainably sourced veneers into this handcrafted cabin. Twenty-way adjustable leather seats, available in a monotone colour split, set new standards for the carmaking industry in terms of comfort and refinement. Four further colour split options are also available, paired with Contrast Stitching, Piping, and Hand Cross Stitch.
New Crown Cut Walnut adorns the V8 fascia and other areas, with the option of a variety of exquisite wood veneers. The GT V8 also features a 10-speaker Bentley Audio system as standard, offering audiophiles 650 watts of pure bliss and entertainment.
The dashboard of the Grand Tourer is an advanced, fully-digital, driver-focused instrument panel with the optional Bentley Rotating Display. The latter is equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen encased in a three-sided unit, which revolves the veneer to reveal the touchscreen, along with three analogue dials.
When it comes to the driving dynamics of the Continental GT V8, owners are treated to exploring the range of performance expected of this Grand Tourer with the Bentley Drive Dynamics selector. It also comes with an optional intelligent Dynamic Ride System, which controls ride comfort and lateral roll, cushioning passengers from excessive movement. The car’s air suspension uses three-chamber air springs, which has the scope to vary from sporting spring stiffness to luxury limousine refinement, depending on the driver’s selection.
Depending on the driving situation, an Active All-Wheel Drive System varies the front-to-rear torque split. The new generation GT comes with Electric Power-Assisted Steering to provide excellent feedback to the driver, while it utilises a variable rack ratio to maintain easy manoeuvrability and stability even at high speeds. The V8 also offers a wide range of driver assistance features, such as Active Lane Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, and Park Assist.
