Both the Ferrari 812 GTS and F8 Spider feature the Prancing Horse’s unique retractable hard top.
On May 15th, 2020, Naza Italia, the official importer and distributor of the Ferrari brand in Malaysia announced the thrilling reveal of the Ferrari F8 Spider and the Ferrari 812 GTS. The 812 GTS hails a return for a model type that played a pivotal role in the Prancing Horse’s history since its inception. Meanwhile, the F8 Spider marks the evolution of its species – the latest generation of drop-top sports car equipped with the most successful mid-rear mounted V8 in history.
“The 812 GTS breathes new life into the range, as the first of its kind in five decades,” said Dato’ Nik Hamdam Nik Hassan, the Group CEO of Automotive Group, Naza Corporation Holdings Sdn Bhd. “An impressive open-top version of the flagship 812 Superfast, it is a purebred performer that certainly upholds the shining legacy of its predecessors. We are absolutely thrilled to be able to present this highly-anticipated roaring beauty to our discerning clientele.”
The Ferrari 812 GTS sets a new benchmark when it comes to performance and exclusivity. It sports the marque’s 800 cv V12, making it the most powerful production spider on the market, while its unique retractable hard top (RHT) makes it the most versatile.
The RHT opens in a mere 14 seconds at speeds up to 45kmh, and doesn’t impinge upon the interior dimensions, maintaining the donor car’s spacious cockpit. The electric rear screen also acts as a wind-stop, which makes the car useable with the top down – while with the top up, it can be left open to allow occupants to continue to luxuriate in the naturally-aspirated V12’s unique soundtrack.
On the other hand, we also have the new F8 Spider, which according to Dato’ Nik Hamdan Nik Hassan, “bolsters the brand’s mighty fleet of ‘drop-top’ supercars.” It was designed in parallel with the F8 Tributo berlinetta, which also features Ferrari’s RHT. It’s the latest addition to an exclusive and prestigious bloodline of open-top V8 cars that started off with the 308 GTS back in 1977. It replaces the 488 Spider, taking on a sportier look and weighing 20kg lighter, but less extreme than the 488 Pista Spider. The F8 Spider also boasts more efficient aerodynamics, and features the new 6.1 version of the Side Slip Angle Control System.
What also makes the F8 Spider so incredible is the fact that it unleashes its power instantaneously with zero turbo lag, while retaining the V8’s unique soundtrack. This was only made possible through the integration of a series of innovate, track-derived aero solutions into the car’s design.
The 812 GTS is available from the base price of RM1,538,000, while the F8 Spider is introduced at the base price of RM1,178,000 – both prices stated are before duties, customisation options, taxes and insurance. You’ll be able to make an appointment for private viewing between now and 31 May. for more details, feel free to contact the Ferrari Malaysia Showroom.
