Vivid is the new norm.

Evolving from the less is more makeup from past seasons’, this Fall is all about traffic-stopping hues spread across eyelids, dark pouts and effortless hair for days. While some of our favourites make a comeback – low ponytails and the au naturel makeup – the celebration of the bold and the sophisticated woman is real this Fall.

Plait it in a row, cornrow

The  go-to hairdo we can count on this season is plaits. This time, sleek looking cornrows make waves on the runways, toned down to simple braids as seen on Valentino or a messy one sides plaited-ponytail like in Alberta Ferretti work as well.

The lower, the better

Forget bed hair, go sleek, neat and really low. Dress it up with accessories like Tory Burch or simplify it like Jonathan Simkhai with a wet look, no one is judging.

Paint it blank

Embracing the natural look, Saint Laurent and Dior stick to the minimal and natural makeup. Glowy hydrated skin, brushed out brows, pale lips and a dash of mascara. You could sing Beyonce’s “I woke up like this” to this look and we would believe you.

Bold peepers lead the way

The Versus Versace show might have been all about the cool vibe with shaggy hairdos’ and vibrant rectangular eyeshadows but Prabal Gurung’s bold eye makeup of greens, blues and reds were pivoted around his collection for female power, resulting in models wearing such colours.

Reinventing the eyeliner game, both British brands Mulberry and Hussein Chayalan strayed away from black this season. How do we go back to basics from here?

Shimmer party

Not all that glitters is gold, although Laura Biagiotti chose to stick to it, head-turning orange is just as cool. In fact cooler, if done the Christian Siriano way. The best part about this look? One fancy shade is all you need.

Berries are not food

If you prefer bold lips instead of eyes, take notes from Marc Jacobs and make your pouts the centre of attention, or if you’re feeling bolder than ever (cause no one should ever tell you otherwise) pull off an Anna Sui – party on your eyes and lips.
