It makes its debut as the world’s first (barely) street-legal production bike with a carbon-fibre frame, swingarm and wheels.
What has wings, a carbon-fibre body and weighs less than a reindeer? Answer: the motor beast that is the Ducati 2020 Panigale Superleggera V4.
Named after the Italian term for “super light”, the all-new Panigale Superleggera V4 is the latest, most powerful and technologically advanced motorcycle in the Panigale V4 range.
It makes its debut as the world’s first (barely) street-legal production bike with a carbon-fibre frame, swingarm and wheels. All that carbon fibre has made the Panigale Superleggera V4 16kg less than the standard Panigale V4, with a total weight of 159kg.
Despite the weight loss, the Panigale Superleggera V4 has got the big guns to produce 50kg of downforce at 270 km/h – 20kg more than its Panigale V4 and V4R siblings. The standard 988cc mill produces an impressive 224 horsepower, whilst the additional race kit and Akrapovic exhaust bumps that up to 234 horsepower.
Add the titanium Ohlins-sourced aluminum fork bottoms, titanium shock absorber springs and Brembo Stylema R front brakes and you have a drop-dead gorgeous machine with a power-to-weight ratio that blows most conventional superbikes out of the water.
Only 500 units of this ride will be available, and buyers will also gain access to the Ducati SBK Experience where they will get to ride a World Superbike Championship-spec Panigale V4 R at Mugelo, Italy.
In addition, 30 lucky buyers will get the opportunity to ride Ducati’s MotoGP race bike under the supervision of Ducati Corse technicians. You’ll have to fork out US$100,000 (approximately RM414,000) for the Panigale Superleggera V first, of course. Who’s game?
