The new Courtyard by Marriott Penang hotel is designed for today’s ambitious and enterprising traveller.
To fulfil your staycation desires, Courtyard by Marriott just announced the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Penang – marking the first Courtyard debut in Malaysia. It features 199 rooms, and is located along Jalan Macalister in the heart of Penang’s UNESCO-listed George Town.
“We are thrilled to continue to grow our presence in Malaysia with the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Penang,” said Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International, Asia Pacific (except China). “Designed for today’s ambitious and enterprising traveller, the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Penang marks Marriott International’s 17th brand in Malaysia and further complements out growing footprint in the country.”
Courtyard by Marriott Penang features rooms and suites that are designed to be both smart and spacious, where guests can take in the unobstructed, 360° views of George Town and the Straits of Malacca. Each room comes with thoughtful amenities, high-technology equipment, and an ergonomic work area that’s perfect for business travellers or remote workers.
To sate your appetite or fulfil your cravings, the hotel offer one signature dining venue, alongside a bar that’s slated to open in the last quarter of 2020. The former is called Penang Kitchen, which is a lively all-day dining restaurant that offers a vast array of cuisines from the local cultures – Malay, Nyonya, Chinese, Indian, as well as international cuisines. As for the Gin Library bar, it’s set up to be Penang’s first and only distillery-themed bar. Reimagined in the Anglo-Indian style, the bar’s design is inspired by the island’s unique heritage and style, dressed in an eclectic mix of contemporary furniture with local elements, and warm timber tones. The bar stays true to the British colonial days, offering a collection of gin and malt whisky spirits, and hand-crafted cocktails.
Guests are also able to enjoy additional facilities at Courtyard by Marriott Penang, such as a 24-hour fitness centre, an outdoor infinity pool overlooking Penang Hill, and dynamic public spaces that are specially created to inspire guests to intuitively transition between work and moments of leisure.
The hotel is also able to cater to various events and their needs thanks to its pillar-less ballroom that’s able to accommodate up to 150 guests. It also includes eight state-of-the-art meeting rooms and one VIP room, each fitted with the latest audio-visual equipment.
