Burberry may have long prided itself on being quintessentially British but it has no qualms in crossing borders in the name of fashion.
Most recently, it has collaborated with Russian designer Gosha Rubchinskiy on 8 pieces of his SS18 collection, premiered on the runway in Saint Petersburg.
Designed hand in hand with the designer, the pieces include new interpretations of the iconic Burberry trenchcoat and a few rendition of the brand’s signature outerwear style.
By Rubchinskiy’s hands, the pieces are reimagined in oversized shapes in contrast to the rest of his collections, resulting in a contemporary look that still remained rooted in the brand’s heritage.
Other pieces include shirts, shorts and hats, created alongside British milliner Stephen Jones who is the mastermind behind all the headpiees in Gubchinskiy’s collection this time round.
Rubchinskiy said: “Burberry has always symbolised the epitome of classic British style to me. Their timeless pieces are the perfect balance to our modern streetwear creating a great mix. I’m very happy with the result of our collaborative work.”
