Here are seven things we like about the BMW 3 Series, the seventh generation of the iconic sports sedan.
The seventh generation of BMW’s most iconic sports sedan, the very model that carved out the premium sports sedan segment, has arrived in Malaysia. The new BMW 3 Series has made it to our shores in just 6 months after its international debut.
The sports sedan is one of the most successful cars in a 45-year-old history of the 3 Series and has sold an impressive 15 million units worldwide.
It is now set to take over Malaysian roads in an exclusive M Sport package which features a dynamic sporty design with new dimensions. Priced at RM328,800 on-the-road without insurance, is it worth your hard earned cash?
Here are seven things of the new BMW 3 Series that might convince you to drive home this beauty.
A powerful engine
This athletic but elegant model comes with the most powerful engine ever to be fitted in a BMW vehicle as its heart. The B48 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission sees the car go from zero to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. It outputs 190 kW/258 hp with a peak torque of 400 Nm from 1,550 to 4,400 rpm.
Lower Fuel Consumption
With the skyrocketing fuel prices, this bit will please those wanting to add this model to their garage. The revamped engine guarantees lower fuel consumption and carbon emission, without compromising on power. It successfully meets the Euro 6d-TEMP exhaust standard for a driving performance minus the carbon footprint.
A larger presence on the roads
The new 3 Series promises to turn heads as it dominates the roads. It is 76mm longer (4,709mm), 16mm wider (1,827mm) and just 6mm taller (1,435mm) than its predecessor. As a bonus this improves the comfort of passengers in the rear seat. The wheelbase is also longer by 41mm (2,851mm).
A sexier appearance
The exterior comes with a slight facelift. The classic Beemer kidney grille is now much larger and wider. It extends to the twin headlights that are fully LED-equipped and boasts a Bi-LED technology. Slim, three-dimensional taillights take on a catlike appearance with tinted glass for a classy appeal.
Enhanced driving experience
You know you have a winner when a powerful engine is packaged with improved driving experience. With better handling characteristics, high-precision steering and superior braking performance, the car is lighter with increased rigidity. The exact technical specification would be that it is lighter by 25kgs and boasts a 25% increase in overall rigidity.
Parking assistant and Reversing assistant
Parking is a breeze with the Parking Assistant, a highly-capable system that can easily manoeuvre out of tight parking spots. When activated, the Park Assistant can park in tricky situations like in spaces parallel or perpendicular to the road. Plus, the new Reversing Assist provides incredible support when operating in narrow spaces.
BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant
“Warning, low fuel!” Now that is an alert that you will not miss. The Personal Assistant explains vehicle functions, provides status updates on things like the oil level and helps in detecting warnings. It will also pick up your driving habits and preferences and will then adjust the vehicle to suit you.
Bonus point: The athletic model comes in five sporty colours – Portimao Blue, Black Sapphire, Alpine White, Mineral Grey and Sunset Orange. You get to choose if you would like it paired with premium Black or Cognac Leather Vernasca upholstery and interior trim finished in Aluminium Tetragon.
