Mercedes‑Maybach has unveiled a limited-edition bespoke S-Class and capsule collection, marking the concluding chapter of Project MAYBACH, its collaborative partnership with the late Virgil Abloh.
Designed with Mercedes‑Benz Group AG’s Chief Design Officer, Gorden Wagener, the vehicle was finalised before Abloh’s passing in November last year and will be limited to 150 units.
The fully equipped Mercedes‑Maybach S‑Class S680, created by Mercedes‑Benz’ specialised customisation and craftsmanship team in Sindelfingen, features a bold two-tone exterior in a colour combination specifically developed for Project MAYBACH.
A glossy obsidian black is lacquered onto the upper section of the vehicle, while a rich sandy hue characterises its lower section, side flanks and special forged rims.
The stylish colour scheme continues into its interior, with the four-seat configuration, steering wheel, doors, lower dashboard and ceiling all decked in black and sand-coloured nappa leather, along with sand-coloured décor trims and strips.
The vehicle’s cohesive, fashion-forward appearance is further enhanced by the black highpile floor mats with sand-coloured leather borders and embroidered Mercedes‑Maybach logo, as well as the sleek painted window frames. An exclusive Mercedes-Maybach and Virgil Abloh logo can also be found inscribed on the piano black middle of the centre-console, rear cushions, head restraints and door sill panel.
Adding to the limited-edition S‑Class’ unique appeal is the bespoke user interface, which offers a more luxurious version of the cutting-edge Maybach MBUX suite, flaunting hand-picked visual elements like a home button with coloured border and profile pictures decorated with fashion accessories.
Customers will receive a custom-made wooden box covered in sand-coloured nappa leather bearing the Mercedes‑Maybach and Virgil Abloh logo. Within the giftbox is a 1/18 scale replica of the limited-edition car, two car keys and a carabiner hook. The vehicle also comes with a special car cover featuring the same logo.
Coinciding with the bespoke S-Class’ launch is the release of a capsule collection designed by Virgil Abloh and in collaboration with Off‑White™. The line was created in connection to the Project MAYBACH electric showcar, and features sand-coloured vintage washed cotton t-shirts, half-brushed cotton fleece hoodies, canvas baseball caps, and racing gloves made with canvas, neoprene and suede.
The capsule collection is available on Off‑White™, Farfetch and Maybach Icons of Luxury online stores
