The two new Longines Heritage Classic – Tuxedo models are inspired by the spirit of the post-war 1940s.
How fabulous it must be – to put on your best suits and frocks to go out dancing in clubs that are overflowing with jazz music. In honour of the late 1940s and its carefree spirit, Longines debuts two new versions of the Heritage Classic – Tuxedo: a 3-hand model and a chronograph model.
The watches take inspiration from a time of prosperity and celebration, when elegance and jazz bands were all the rage. They both feature a black and white dial, which is a nod to the suits often donned on by men at the time.
Longines has chosen to leave out the word ‘Automatic’ on the dials of the new models, out of respect for the original models. In keeping with the intention to create timepieces that are as faithful as possible to historical timepieces, there is also an absence of a date window on the contemporary models.
The 38.5mm 3-hand model of the Longines Heritage Classic – Tuxedo stands out with the aesthetics of its dial, which features a typical and very popular design from the ‘40s. A matte black circle surrounds an opaline silver disc, while the thin baton hands are covered with SuperLuminova. The small seconds counter, located at 6 o’clock, is off-centre. Inside the timepiece beats the exclusive L893.5 movement with its silicone balance spring.
As for the chronograph version, the displays are shrouded in matte black, opaline, and midnight blue. Several zones are featured on its dial, as as well as a tachymetric scale that enriches its circumference just like on the original model. The 40mm case houses the exclusive L895.5 movement, which is also equipped with a silicone balance spring.
Both watches are fitted with semi-matte black leather straps, which perfectly finishes off the aesthetic of freedom and refinement.
