More timepieces from Cartier, Greubel Forsey, Ulysse Nardin and Vacheron Constantin making us do a double take.
We’ve seen the bulk of what SIHH 2018 has to offer on Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3; but there’s still a number of timepieces worth mentioning before the horology event wraps up tomorrow.
Here are the additions from Cartier, Greubel Forsey, Ulysse Nardin and Vacheron Constantin that made us do a double take on Day 4.
Cartier Révélation d'Une Panthère
Though created for the ladies, we’re sure the Cartier Révélation d'Une Panthère wows the men too. After five years of painstaking development, Cartier finally unveils its spectacular double-patented watch – one for the liquid used to suspend 900 gold balls filling out a Panthére pattern across the dial; and the second for the glass encasing the liquid and beads. It’s available in deep shades of red, green and black, and retails for $106,000.
Greubel Forsey Double Balancier
Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey made quite the impression on Day 1 with the GMT Earth and they continue to spark conversation with a reinterpretation of their sixth Fundamental Invention, Double Balancier. Its name derives from the composition of two inclined balance wheels connected to the Constant Spherical Differential, exposed through a cutout on the dial. This remake of the 2009 version comes in a black gold dial and increased chronometric performance, going for CHF350,000.
Ulysse Nardin Classic Voyeur Minute Repeater
Probably the most controversial (read: erotic) of the lot, and we mean the entire arsenal at SIHH 2018, is Ulysse Nardin’s Classic Voyeur. The “hot” horology piece displays two intrepid couples making love in what appears to be a Louis XIV salon, patterned from 18-carat pink gold or white gold. But that’s not it – the press of a button engages the rhythmic movement of passion between the two lovers…and the rest is secondary. Only 18 pieces available for $295,000.
Vacheron Constantin FiftySix Complete Calendar
Vacheron Constantin debuted the new FiftySix collection this year, drawing inspiration from its historical 1956 watch, the reference 6073. One of the standouts include the Complete Calendar model, paying tribute to the 6073 while offering a more contemporary case shape and moon phase. It also comes certified with the Geneva seal, selling at $21,600 for the stainless steel version and $35,800 for the pink gold.
