Maurice Lacroix’s name is never mentioned without its Calypso range of watches following closely behind. After all, the Calypso was the maison’s most successful collection ever produced from its inception in 1990 until it was discontinued in 2003.
But a true icon never really dies – it merely gives birth to more legends and in the case of the Calypso, it gave us the new Aikon.
Introduced last year, the Aikon encompasses a collection of chronographs, a range of of men’s watches as well as a series of women’s watches, but each shares these same themes across the board.
A common identity
Each of the models from the Aikon collection shares a key design element that has made the Calypso a classic timepiece since 1990. It comes with a recognisable 6-arm bezel, with each arm representing strength and robustness in the men’s designs and a caring and loving embrace in the women’s.

The case and bracelet of the gents’ Aikon models boast assertive, sharp strong lines, whilst the ladies’ models feature smooth, gentler curvatures. They are alike yet different and through its design expertise, presents itself as timepieces that meet the needs of stylish wearers of both genders, now and in the future.

The Aikon models harnesses the greatness of an icon from the past and projects it into a new and polarising look for the future. Few watches are regarded as an icon but Maurice Lacroix’s Aikon certainly is.
