Starting today, 7 Wonders Day honours the 21 iconic wonders chosen by hundreds of millions of votes in three historic global campaigns.
In celebration of the Official Declaration of the New 7 Wonders of the World on 07.07.07, the New7Wonders commission has officially declared 07.07 (or 7th July) as 7 Wonders Day.
Starting today, 7 Wonders Day honours the 21 iconic wonders chosen by hundreds of millions of votes in three historic global campaigns: the New7Wonders of the World, the New7Wonders of Nature and the New7Wonders Cities.
After garnering more than 100 million votes, the New 7 Wonders of the World was officially declared ten years ago today, in Lisbon, Portugal in the following geographical order:
Following that, the canon of 7 was expanded with the election of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2011 and the New 7 Wonders Cities in 2014, by the casting of an additional 550 million votes.
“New7Wonders has so far generated more than US$5 billion worth of economic, tourism and national promotional value for locations participating in its campaigns,” says Jean-Paul de la Fuente, Director of New7Wonders.
“Everyone can play a role in safeguarding our heritage by being active and contributing to the success of 7 Wonders Day,” says New7Wonders Founder Bernard Weber. “Every social media post, share or tweet raises the profile of our elected Wonders in people’s minds and hearts, in the world’s media and on the global development agenda. Let’s support one another on 7 July: A day to wonder!”
Do your part to share the wonder on social media with the hashtag #7WondersDay. For more information about the campaign, visit the New7Wonders official website at new7wonders.com.
