Smartwatches may have started out favouring men’s wrists and styles, but as with various other markets – thankfully and finally! – women are beginning to have a bigger share of the pie than before. This year not only presented more wearables vying for the attention of the fairer sex, some of them also feature new functions with women’s lifestyles in mind.

After the launch of Fitbit’s first smartwatch comes the Fitbit Versa in an arguably more feminine design than its predecessor, both inside and out. Design-wise, it’s lighter and more rounded around the edges than the Ionic. Unveiled last year as part of the Michael Kors Spring 2018 collection, the Access Sofie smartwatch saw a number of new colour variations this year – which we must say is a step up in itself. The four new colourways include a blush rose-gold tone, brilliant blue sky, two-tone rose gold, and a gold-tone with white silicone-wrapped links. One of the few upmarket brands to join the smartwatch bandwagon (if you exclude hybrids) this year is kate spade new york with its Scallop range. Apple Watch Series 3
We may be cheating a bit here as everyone knows the Apple Watch Series 3 was yesteryear’s news, but it’s still a crowd-favourite in the wearable game this year (surely thanks to diehard Apple fans). Nevertheless, it’s worth noting for having added cellular connectivity (which allows users to make and receive calls and texts straight from the watch), in turn allowing access to 40 million songs via Apple Music streaming.
