In yet another marriage of sports and designer wear, Thom Browne and FC Barcelona have teamed up for a capsule collection in support of a good cause.
As the official provider of the team’s off-field uniforms since 2018, the North American label continues to marry its sartorial expertise with the Spanish football club’s characteristic colours and elements to produce a collection of clothing and accessories.
The line includes a sport coat and chino shorts, a jacquard V-neck button-down cardigan, and a classic white oxford shirt – all adorned with the FC Barcelona crest. Meanwhile, accessories include a tie, scarf, socks, knit hat and a pebble grain leather folio crest in blaugrana colours instead of the designer’s trademark grey.
Funds from the sales of the exclusive capsule will benefit the Barca Foundation, supporting children in situations of risk or with social needs caused by COVID-19.
In conjunction with the launch, there will also be a draw to raise funds for the Barca Foundation. Participants will be required to answer a series of questions about the charity programs being run by the Foundation and Thom Browne, in which they stand to win one of the pieces of the collection (spoiler: it’s the scarf).
Previously, the two parties have worked together on programs run by the club in New York, applying the FutbolNet sports-based intervention methodology to help better the lives of children living in vulnerable contexts.
