Fashion in the 70s is perhaps the funnest of the decades, with playful crops and ties, breezy silhouettes, luxurious jewel hues and lots of freestyling boho fringe. The era also gave us the iconic wrap dress of Diane von Furstenberg so it was only apt that Jonathan Saunders looked back to that era for his spring 2018 collection.
“How do you translate ‘70s glamour and nostalgia for the past using innovative fabrics?” he asked at the start of the show.
He answered his own question with his signature confident style of lots of colours and print.

Cuts were kept relaxed and breezy, to enunciate the details of its prints. Stripes and geometrics soon gave way to floral motifs that kept the 70s vibe with deep V necks and flared hems.
Fringe came into the spotlight next, on long skirts of luxurius mesh and satin combos, adding a wow factor to little black dresses and accentuating detailing as earrings and bags.
The closest thing to the wrap dress is perhaps a stunning handkerchief dress all in black save for a spattering of colourful embroidery and a luxe white piping that truly allowed it to pop.
