Paul Andrew’s latest shoe designs stole the spotlight, taking inspiration from iconic women such as Greta Garbo, Carmen Miranda, Brigitte Bardot, Eva Peron and Marilyn Monroe.

Set outside Milan’s stock exchange, distinguished by Maurizio Cattelan’s Carrera infamous marble L.O.V.E statue (aka The Middle Finger), the Salvatore Ferragamo SS18 Ready To Wear show stood for women and their multi-faceted styles, personalities and beauty.

For a house built on footwear, one can expect the primary focus of the collection to be on the shoes – so it’s no wonder that Paul Andrew’s latest shoe designs stole the spotlight, taking inspiration from the individual elegance of iconic women such as Greta Garbo, Carmen Miranda, Brigitte Bardot, Eva Peron and Marilyn Monroe.

In fact, it would seem as if Fulvio Rigoni’s third collection for the house was designed to match Andrew’s footwear direction.

From Bella Hadid’s opening snakeskin dress and corresponding blue heels to Tami Williams’ purple sequinned maxi skirt and matching-coloured sandals, the synergy between the two designers’ creations was clear.

Double-crossed mules, ankle-strap heels and phyton leather booties in wide array of colours led the way, along with coordinating belts, sling bags, half-moon clutches and square totes.

Rigoni’s designs followed suit, featuring bustier and slip dresses in silk, knit and leather textures with a hint of sequins and fringes in between, as well as the occasional tailored pants, skirts, bodysuits and jumpsuits.

The finale brought the models back together on the footsteps of the Palazzo Mezzanote, ending Ingo Maurer’s concurring light show with a projection of the word “Amo” in conjunction with the unveiling of the brand’s new women’s fragrance.
