While the world is stepping into spring (pun intended) on a tense note – no thanks to the coronavirus causing multiple event cancellations and postponements – we’re trusting on some good ol’ retail therapy to help alleviate the mood.
Don’t worry about restricted movements and store closures, we’ve scoured the web for top shoe picks you can buy online. Plus, we looked to SS20 runways for a few footwear trends that will likely live on to the next few seasons (read: surpass the present pandemic).

Chain reaction

Metal-link embellishments are making waves this season, as seen on the runways of Bottega Veneta and Gucci. Whether appearing as straps or doubling as anklets across flats and heels, footwear is clearly having a chain reaction right now.
Minimalist mules
Here’s one for the minimalist dresser – understated mules. Like last season, Bottega Veneta is reigning in this department with its thong toe strap mid-heel mules that are both stylish and sophisticated.
Mary Jane pumps
Mary Jane shoes have graced the footwear world since back in the early 20th century, and it’s unlikely to fall out of fashion anytime soon. For spring, the buckle strapped bar shoes, also known as doll shoes, are particularly in-trend as pumps.
Loafer-ing around
Loafers are coming in hot this spring in mixed textures and all heel types – flat, platforms and heels. Take your pick from Ferragamo’s sturdy form to Prada’s chunky heeled loafer.
Square toe silhouettes
The square shaped silhouette lives on for another season, with more brands jumping in on the bandwagon. These square-toe sandals, kitten heels and pumps work great for wider feet or those with toe swelling.

Platforms
With the ‘70s being one of the biggest influences of the season, it’s no surprise that platforms are making a comeback. We’re noticing platform sandals (Gucci), flatforms (Chloe) and derby versions (Louis Vuitton), too.
Rainbow colours
Is it even spring if there are no bright colours around? From sunshine yellow to neon orange and dreamy blue, now’s the time to get your hands on, or rather, your feet in some vibrant shoes.
