A. Lange & Sohne kicked off SIHH 2018 with an impressive reveal of the Triple Split Chronograph – the world’s first triple rattrapante chronograph.
After many teasers and pre-SIHH releases, the highly anticipated annual Salon International de Haute Horlogerie has finally arrived. With the world’s top watch manufacturers flocking to Geneva to showcase their latest timepieces, there’s so much to see yet so little time to cover everything. Here are the timepieces that caught our eye on Day 1 of SIHH 2018.
A. Lange & Söhne Triple Split Chronograph
A. Lange & Sohne kicked off SIHH 2018 with an impressive reveal of the Triple Split Chronograph – the world’s first triple rattrapante chronograph capable of measuring and comparing the time of two concurrent events up to 12 hours in duration. Price at launch is $147,000 with only 100 pieces available in white gold.
IWC Tribute to Pallweber Edition “150 Years”
The original Pallweber pocket watch, named after celebrated Austrian watch maker Josef Pallweber, now comes in the form of a wristwatch while staying true to its roots in terms of size (45mm), courtesy of IWC. The three disk jumping hours and minutes wristwatch is tentatively priced at $36,000 and comes in red gold for this “150 Years” edition.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox
In conjunction with its 50th anniversary, Jaeger Le-Coultre has reinvented its original 1968 Polaris with 5 new models at SIHH 2018. This Memovox version pays tribute to its predecessor by retaining the classic three-crown set-up, inner rotating bezel, and alarm function, yet exudes a fresh appeal with its Super-LumiNova feature. Only 1,000 pieces are available at $12,600 each.
Greubel Forsey GMT Earth
The Greubel Forsey GMT Earth is not for the simple-minded; from its updated, bold aesthetics (check out that 3D model of a globe which rotates once every 24 hours!) to its highly complex mechanisms and hand-finishing techniques, this is one timepiece that begs thorough inspection to be appreciated. Only 33 pieces are available.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon
Carrying on its lead in the realm of women’s watches, Audemars Piguet presents its new Concept watch emphasising the manufacturer’s very first flying tourbillon. At first sight, it’s hard not to be captivated by its clean white aesthetics and lavish diamond embellishments, which come in two variants: brilliant-cut (shown above) and baguette-cut. Romain Jerome New Skylab RJ X Spiderman
Romain Jerome has done it again – introducing a stunning horology inspired by famous cartoon/fictional characters – this time being Spiderman, in collaboration with Marvel. The New Skylab RJ X Spiderman watch features a 48mm case and a black dial contrasted by a bright red Spiderman logo in the center. Limited to 75 pieces.
Montblanc 1858 Geosphere
Montblanc’s new 1858 collection is a major talking point at this year’s SIHH, and the Geosphere model is arguably the height of its attention. Dedicated to the Seventh Summit Challenge, the watch combines a simple dual timezone display with a more complex pair of worldtime displays, plus a bi-directional rotating compass to exude a spirit of exploration. There are two versions available, including a non-limited stainless steel and a bronze-cased edition limited to 1,858 pieces.
