The New York-based fashion house has named the first global face of its menswear business and it’s none other than our favourite antagonist in the Black Panther.
We can’t tell who’s more psyched about Coach’s new global men’s face – Michael B Jordan (as the IG post above suggests) or his fans. That’s right, the New York-based fashion house has named the first global face of its menswear business and it’s none other than our favourite antagonist in the Black Panther and the protégé of Rocky Balboa in Creed.
Announced last month, Michael’s partnership with Coach will comprise global advertising campaigns for men’s ready-to-wear, accessories and fragrances beginning Spring/Summer 2019. He will also be involved in special design projects with Creative Director Stuart Vevers and philanthropic efforts with the Coach Foundation.
He joins Selena Gomez, the global face of the brand’s womenswear counterpart, as part of the Coach family under Stuart’s creative direction.
“I’m honoured to be joining the Coach family and have so much respect for Stuart Vevers’ vision,” Michael said. “I’m looking forward to jumping into the creative process and exploring fashion through a different lens.”
His appointment comes more than 75 years after Coach established itself as a fashion brand built on men’s leather accessories, which one may say is long overdue; but with the men’s fashion industry regaining momentum in recent years, perhaps this is just the right time.
“Michael is cool and authentic, and he really embodies the Coach guy,” Vevers added. “I’ve had the chance to get to know Michael over the last couple of years. He always looks great in Coach, so it felt really natural to build our relationship.”
