The three performance models are set to lead the marque’s compact cars segment that has been growing in demand in recent years.
In its first ever digital premiere on Monday, Mercedes Benz Malaysia unveiled three Mercedes-AMG compact cars that have just arrived at our shores: the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC, A 45 4MATIC+ and the CLA 45 4MATIC+.
The three performance models are set to lead the marque’s compact cars segment that has been growing in demand in recent years.
“With the new generation Mercedes-AMG cars, we are redefining the standards of sports, performance and luxury in Malaysia by combining a different level of mobility and innovation. These three are aggressively bred for both, the road and racetrack,” said Dr Claus Weidner, President & CEO, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

A 35
The entry-level A35 4MATIC is powered by a M260 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo engine outputting 306hp and 400Nm of torque. Complemented by the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G transmission controlling all four wheels, it is capable of performing the century sprint in 4.7 seconds.
Launching in the limited Edition 1 package, the hatchback features a radiator grille with twin louvres, AMG Line front apron with flics and silver chrome trims on the louvres in the outer air intakes. The rear apron comes with a new diffuser insert, finished with a raised spoiler and two round tailpipes. Completing the sporty look are 19-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in matt Tech Gold with a high-sheen finish.
Interior-wise, there’s a new AMG centre console integrated with control switches for manual transmission mode. All other features including the AMG-designed instrument clusters and MBUX infotainment system are largely similar to the A 45 S, with the exception of the AMG Track Pace function.
It is available in metallic denim blue with decals in matt Tech Gold on the exterior mirror caps and in the lower part of the doors.
A 45 S and CLA 45 S Coupé
Mercedes claims its newly designed M139 2.0-litre engine in the 45 models is the “world’s most powerful turbocharged four-cylinder manufactured for series production”. It is capable of producing up to 421hp and 500Nm of torque, surpassing its predecessor by 40hp and 25Nm respectively. This allows the A 45 S to sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, while the CLA 45 lags by just 0.1 second. Both have a top speed of 270km/h.
The five-door A 45 S hatchback also comes in the Edition 1 kit, featuring a distinctive front apron, AMG-specific radiator trim, bonnet with power domes and 19-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels with red painted brake calipers – altogether exuding a premium, sporty aesthetic.
At the rear apron, two twinpipe trims along with four vertical fins clearly distinguish it from the A 35 model. These top-spec design elements are the reason behind its higher asking price compared to the CLA 45 S model.
Inside, AMG Performance seats upholstered in ARTICO man-made leather and DINAMICA microfibre in black with yellow topstitching mirror the car’s race exteriors. The MBUX multimedia system here includes the AMG Track Pace and provides additional information such as gear indicator and engine data.
It arrives in a new hero shade called Sun Yellow with decals in Designo Mountain Grey Magno, or the exact opposite of Designo Mountain Grey Magno with decals in Sun Yellow.
Lastly, the CLA 45 S references the GT 63 with a distinctive front apron and AMG radiator grille. It features a specific diffuser and AMG spoiler lip in the body colour on the boot lid at the rear. Completing the high-tech cockpit in the cabin are AMG Performance seats, AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather and DINAMICA microfibre, aluminium AMG Design trim in black and silver and AMG illuminated door sills and floor mats.
The Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC, A 45 4MATIC+ and the CLA 45 4MATIC+ is priced at RM379,888, RM459,888 and RM448,888 (OTR without insurance) respectively.
