The name is  from the 1986 Royale iteration of the third generation Quattroporte and will be resurrected for the newest generations of the Quattroporte, Levante and Ghibli.

Just when you think Maserati cannot get any more exotic, it has announced the Royale special series which consists an extraordinarily limited edition collection of cars that will come outfitted with a slew of special features. We’re talking the Quattroporte, Levante and Ghibli models, but made extra limited edition with lavish add-ons like exclusive materials and elite technologies never before seen in Maserati’s lineup.

The name draws inspiration  from the 1986 Royale iteration of the third generation Quattroporte sedan and will be resurrected specially for the newest generations of the V6-equipped Quattroporte, Levante and Ghibli.

The original Royale series saw only 51 units produced for each model; the revived collection will see 100 units, with engines ranging from 3-litre V6 diesel engines putting out 275hp to 3-liter V6 petrol engines capable of generating up to 430hp.

Colour-wise, it will come in two opalescent paint colours: a shimmering dark blue or deep teal. Both will by complemented by Anthracite rims and silver brake calipers. Inside, owners can choose between two types of posh leather upholstery to pair with high gloss inserts.

On the technology front, every model will come with a Bowers & Wilkins Sound System as a standard along with the Cold Weather, Premium and Driving Assistance Plus Packages to ensure driver and passenger safety at all times in all weather conditions.

Like the rest of the non-Royale range, this special series has a Maserati Touch Control Plus unit, an 8.4-inch touchscreen display, and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Ordering for the 100 Royale series units are open now and the first deliveries will drop in March.
