If you thought millennial pink was so 2018, think again. Hublot is making the shade cool once more with the launch of its signature Big Bang watch in the colour that ruled the fashion world in the latter part of the last decade.
Designed in collaboration with luxury customiser Garage Italia and designer Lapo Elkann, the Big Bang Millennial Pink breaks gender divides in the traditional world of watchmaking with its unique shade that is neither too masculine nor feminine – simply, gender neutral.
Some describe it as powder pink; some call it pastel; others define it as a blend of beige, salmon and grapefruit. However you name it, the ambiguous shade marks Hublot’s challenge to the status quo, expressing a gentle, inclusive and confident approach to life.
“At Hublot, we are particularly proud of the Art of Fusion. But the list of things we cherish also includes the ability to innovate, to change, to be different, and, of course, our watchmaking expertise,” said Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe. “Our expertise in materials technology has enabled us to create a unique colour for this watch, Millennial Pink, symbolic of the world available to us, in its constant state of flux.”
According to the brand, the watch’s specific colour is achieved through an anodisation process which both protects and decorates the watch, while offering greater resistance to scratches and impacts. Launching at 42mm, it is made from modern, lightweight aluminium with balanced, unisex proportions to complement any wrist.
The brushed case boasts a metallic sheen when reflected at certain angles, punctuated by the signature Big Bang Bezel screws. Powering the watch is a Unico chronograph manufacture movement, which features a 72-hour power reserve.
Completing the timepiece are two interchangeable strap options that incorporate the brand’s exclusive patented One Click system. The first is made from rubber with a titanium buckle anodised and polished in matching millennial pink aluminium. The second is made from a blend of Velcro and knitted PES fabric with millennial pink stitching, secured with a sporty buckle.
Limited to only 200 pieces, the Hublot Big Bang Millennial Pink retails for CHF 19,900 or US$20,900 (approximately RM89,000).
