The dining scene in Malaysia is a robust feast that leaves none wanting with delicacies ranging from street to fine. This season, we take a look at the restaurants putting Malaysian ingredients front and centre, as we comb the best of North to South of the Peninsular for a true and local exploration of Malaysian flavours.
In the heart of Kuala Lumpur in the colourful W KL hotel, a restaurant takes flight, given wings by a small team of young chefs ready to make their mark. Willow KL, named after the migratory willow bird, is inspired by its namesake to serve cuisine made with international influences borrowed from all corners of the globe.
Leading the kitchen team is Chef Lroy Lim, who hails from Penang but trained all over the world. One of the youngest chefs in the scene, he brings forth a menu prepared by the hands of an equally youthful team.
Stopping by for a visit at Willow for a taste today is fellow Penangite Chef Kim Hock Su, chef proprietor of Restaurant Au Jardin in Georgetown. He has a very special guest joining him: Luxury food blogger and personality, Anne from AnneLuxuryEats.
