BMW has unveiled the addition to its seventh generation model, the 2023 BW 7 Series, with an all-electric flagship called the i7. Although BMW is more known for the 3 Series and 4 Series, the 7 Series places comfort and luxury at the forefront with the latest technology to boot. The new BMW i7 was designed with buyers in mind who seek whisper-quiet luxury transportation as well as those who wish to rest in the back while being driven.
Range and Performance
The new 7 will be available in three configurations: a rear-drive straight-six 740i; a V8, all-wheel-drive 760i xDrive; and an electric i7 xDrive60. The base 740i is powered by an improved version of BMW’s B58 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine. The i7 features two electric motors, one for each axle, which provide a total of 536 horsepower. The BMW i7 xDrive60 is said to reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and is also expected to have a driving range of roughly 300 miles per charge out of the i7’s 101.7-kWh battery.
There are also a number of driver-assistance systems available, including BMW’s new Highway Assistant, which allows hands-free driving and even has the capability of self-parking.
Interior comfort
The i7’s interior focuses on comfort and luxury with the idea to suit the needs of a passenger’s busy lifestyle. The interior features a new 31″ BMW Theater Screen, which features 5G connectivity via Personal eSim, up to 8K resolution, Amazon Fire TV compatibility, and is integrated with the Sedan’s high-end sound system. The optional Luxury rear seating package includes vented, heated and massaging comfort seats that are ideal for keeping passengers refreshed on long journeys.
The interior is also fitted with a BMW Interaction Bar and an all-new Curved Display and dashboard design. The faceted glass bar stretches controls for air vents, the glove compartment, and more, and provides both ambient and dynamic illumination.
The i7 comes with the same warranty coverage as BMW’s other electrified models, the iX SUV and the i4 sedan, which means four years or 50,000 miles of basic coverage and all new BMWs come with a complimentary three-year maintenance package. BMW’s high-end all-electric executive vehicle is set to arrive in early 2023.
